Good food for thought. I think it depends on the pastor. Some folks are great multi-taskers. And they can transact different worlds in their life pretty seamlessly.
The article relegates the role of that 1 methodist pastor to preaching. While they later provided a good example of another bivocational pastor who was able to preach and then some.
Either way, full-time or bivocational, I know they both have their own myriad of challenges. I'd like to do this full-time myself, and I'm working toward that.
Jeremy, Thanks. Although we had the Latino Leadership Circle blog, I decided to officially blog more as a therapeutic measure than anything else.... Hope things are well with you.
Jose, Yeah, I guess the article doesn't really take into account evangelical churches. That would be an interesting study. How many Evangelical Pastors from smaller churches in the United States are part time and why? I'm sure what they'll find are there statistical relationships based economics and demographics.
I was talking to Dave about this a week or so a go. The question was how does a person who feels lead to minister to Latinos in our city able to Pastor without living below the poverty line?
